I lived with cholinergic urticaria for approximately six years.
The last three years were by far the most difficult.
As my condition worsened, my world became smaller and smaller. Heat, sunlight, physical activity, emotional stress, and everyday situations could trigger symptoms. Eventually, I found myself spending most of my time isolated inside my room, relying on a fan and avoiding many of the things that other people take for granted.
There was a period when I could barely tolerate normal daily activities. I avoided exercise, avoided the sun, avoided social situations, and spent years watching life pass by from the safety of my room.
Before developing urticaria, I had already experienced years of emotional pressure, family difficulties, isolation, and situations that left a deep emotional impact. Over time, these experiences affected both my emotional wellbeing and my physical health.
When I started treatment with Luis Monteiro, I followed a Traditional Chinese Medicine program that included emotional guidance, diet, Chinese phytotherapy, and acupuncture.
One of the most important things I learned during treatment was that recovery involved much more than simply eliminating itching and hives. I learned how to understand my emotions, express them in a healthier way, and face life’s challenges with greater calm, patience, and resilience.
As treatment progressed, my symptoms gradually improved. My confidence returned, my emotional state became more stable, and I slowly began reclaiming the life that urticaria had taken away from me.
The symptoms disappeared completely and Luis closed my case.
Today I live a completely normal life.
I work with the public, deal with stress, travel, exercise, spend time outdoors, and enjoy activities that once seemed impossible.
One of the most memorable moments after my case was closed happened when I got back on a motorcycle for the first time in three years. It was a hot afternoon, around 34°C, and everything was completely normal. No itching, no hives, no fear. I felt free, focused, and fully present in the moment.
Looking back, I realize that the treatment gave me much more than relief from symptoms. It taught me valuable lessons about emotional health, self-expression, and how to deal with life’s challenges in a healthier way.
Today I understand that emotions themselves are not the problem. The difference lies in how we process, express, and deal with them.
I am deeply grateful to Luis Monteiro for all the guidance, support, and emotional teachings that helped me throughout this journey.
To everyone still going through treatment, stay patient and trust the process. Recovery is possible, and one day you may find yourself living a life that currently feels impossible.
I know this because I am living it now.
