The Real start of Chronic Urticaria Recovery

Hello friends,

In my first post, I introduced the purpose of this blog and shared some general ideas about chronic urticaria and chronic hives. I finished that introduction with three statements that represent the foundation of the perspective explored throughout this project.

1 – Urticaria is not an illness.

2 – Urticaria is not an allergy.

3 – People think urticaria is a BAD thing but it is not. In fact it is a GOOD thing because it is an alarm sign that not every person can be fortunate to have.

Explaining these ideas:

1 – Urticaria is not an illness

From the perspective explored in this blog, urticaria is not seen as an isolated disease, but rather as a symptom connected to deeper internal imbalances that many people are not aware of.

2 – Urticaria is not an allergy

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, urticaria is often associated with excess internal heat. This excess of internal heat may result either from excess Yang energy, Yin deficiency, or in more severe cases what Chinese Medicine describes as Empty Yin.

In conventional medicine, urticaria is usually divided into two categories: acute and chronic. Acute urticaria generally lasts less than six weeks, while symptoms persisting beyond that period are commonly classified as chronic urticaria.

Within the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, however, even when certain foods, substances, or chemical products appear to trigger reactions, the situation is not always interpreted as a simple allergic process. Instead, those triggers may be understood as factors interacting with an internal state that has already become excessively reactive due to accumulated imbalance.

According to this view, emotional stress, lifestyle patterns, environmental influences, and long-term physiological imbalance may gradually increase internal heat over time. When the body reaches a certain threshold of instability, reactions may begin to appear more easily in response to foods, temperatures, chemicals, pressure, stress, or other triggers.

As internal balance gradually improves, many people report that symptoms become weaker, less frequent, and less limiting over time.

Traditional Chinese Medicine also considers that emotional states can influence the balance of the internal organs and energy systems. For this reason, emotional patterns are viewed as an important part of the process.

3 – People think urticaria is a BAD thing but it is not. In fact it is a GOOD thing because it is an alarm sign that not every person can be fortunate to have.

Urticaria can be understood as an alert mechanism that signals that something in the body, emotions, lifestyle, or internal balance is not functioning in harmony.

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, negative emotional patterns may gradually contribute to internal organ imbalances. Some commonly described associations include:

  • Anger (and resentment): Affects the Liver.
  • Excessive joy: Affects the Heart.
  • Sadness (and grief/lament): Affects the Lung.
  • Worry: Affects the Spleen-Pancreas.
  • Melancholy (or excessive thinking): Also connected to the Spleen.
  • Fear: Affects the Kidneys.
  • Shock (or fright): Affects the Heart and Kidneys.

These ideas will be explored in much greater detail in future posts.

From this perspective, chronic urticaria develops progressively through the accumulation of internal imbalance patterns over time, eventually contributing to excess internal heat and hypersensitivity reactions.

Thank you for reading, and see you in the next post.
