Second Diet Cycle: Learning How to Balance Yin and Yang Foods

After the first 10-day diet cycle focused on reducing internal Heat, the next step is understanding how the second diet cycle works.

The objective is not to keep the first restrictions forever.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yin and Yang extremes always lead to the opposite extreme.

For example, a person who constantly consumes extremely cold foods and drinks (extreme Yin) forces the body to create more Yang activity to restore temperature and balance.

On the other side, a person who lives with excessive Yang stimulation — such as excessive stimulants, stress, and constant activity — can eventually reach exhaustion and a Yin state.

This is why corrections in Traditional Chinese Medicine should always be gradual and balanced.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE

The diet cycles presented here are examples. Their real application must always consider the individual condition of each person and should be evaluated and supervised by a professional with knowledge of the dietary principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

It is also essential to consider any other chronic conditions the person may have, such as lupus, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, thyroid disorders, autoimmune diseases, chronic gastrointestinal disorders, metabolic conditions, or any other relevant health problems.

Nutritional deficiencies must also be taken into account, including vitamin B deficiencies, vitamin D deficiency, iron deficiency, or other important deficiencies that may influence the person’s condition.

Why the First Diet Cycle Cannot Continue Forever

After the first 10 days, we cannot maintain the initial restrictions for too long.

We would be abruptly changing from a predominantly Yang diet, which many people had before starting this process, into an exaggerated Yin diet.

This could create another imbalance.

It could also create emotional instability, anxiety, frustration, and consequently increase internal Heat again.

Balance is always the objective.

Introducing Protein Again

From this stage, three animal proteins can usually be introduced:

  • chicken
  • turkey
  • fish

However, they must be introduced with specific rules.

Protein is not consumed every day.

The cycle works with alternating days:

One day with animal protein.

One day without animal protein.

How to Consume Protein During This Cycle

On protein days, two fish meals can be used.

However, two meat meals should not be used on the same day.

Examples:

Allowed:

  • fish for lunch and fish for dinner
  • chicken or turkey for lunch and fish for dinner

Not recommended:

  • chicken for lunch and turkey for dinner
  • chicken twice in the same day
  • turkey twice in the same day

The objective is to slowly increase Yang without returning immediately to the previous dietary pattern.

Foods That Remain Removed

All the foods removed during the first 10 days remain removed.

The main change is only the introduction of:

  • white fish
  • chicken
  • turkey

The fish should be white inside.

Fish such as tuna and salmon are still avoided at this stage because they contain more fat.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fat creates more Heat, meaning it has a stronger Yang effect.

Duration of the Second Diet Cycle

This second cycle usually lasts around two weeks.

However, this can change depending on:

  • reduction of itching
  • reduction of stinging sensations
  • visible changes
  • physical condition
  • emotional balance

The next steps are always decided according to how the person evolves.

Learning How to Manage Food

This second cycle is no longer an extremely restrictive diet.

Most restrictions involve foods such as:

  • industrial foods
  • soft drinks
  • alcohol
  • seafood
  • highly processed products

These are foods that should not be part of daily habits even in people without urticaria.

At this stage, the person starts learning something much more important:

how to use food consciously.

The goal is not simply following rules.

The goal is understanding balance.

After restoring internal balance, the person already understands that periods of excess need periods of correction.

For example, after vacations, parties, alcohol, or heavier meals, the following days should include lighter choices and more Yin foods.

This conscious management usually did not exist before urticaria.

The same happens with:

  • exercise habits
  • sleep schedules
  • emotional conflicts
  • daily life decisions

There is now awareness, management, and a different way of looking at life.

The person is no longer living in automatic mode.
